Just Another Day of Rehearsal

Please note: The title of this post is meant to be sung to notable and extremely famous opening tune,"Another Day of Sun."

In two months, my bitty cast of 6 singers (well, currently five because our Male 1 dropped... stay tuned about how THAT works out....), two dancers (my partner and me), and one acrobatic artist has to learn a total of eight shows. That's right, you heard it! We already have four shows under our belts, including a Madonna show, a German Schlager music show, a "Latin" show, a pop sing-along show, and a 20s-style book musical. In the latter show, I learned to quickstep, reviewed my balletic partnering, and maintained a sassy, jealous character; I'm have fun with this one!

LIES, in actuality we must learn twelve shows because four of the shows are outdoor-based, but in case of Baltic Sea-inclined weather, which is, funnily enough, where we will be most of the contract, we have indoor versions as well. So, twelve in total. Oh, and the singers have an additional show that I am not a part of. So, thirteen, for them!

The rehearsal process has been pretty chill, all things considered! We learn one show/week, with a final run of the show on Sunday for the choreographer and MD. We then separate from the singers to learn choreo, normally joining forces in the afternoon to stage everything. Below you will find an "Evy Day" in slightly more detail:

7:00 wake up, eat small breakfast, pack snacks and shoes

9:00 arrive at studios, warm-up/ work-out

9:40 post-breakfast snack

10:00-14:00 learn choreo with choreographer and DC

14:00-15:00 lunch

14:40-15:00 re-warm-up

15:00-18:00 set shows with entire cast

18:00-18:45 eat dinner/ meal prep in the AIDA kitchen

19:00 evening activities-- yoga, PT exercises/ research, Netflix, reading, Facetiming.

21:30 bedtime for Evy!

I really am thriving with this regularity because I honestly miss school. Also, there is plenty of variance to be had in rehearsals ending early, exploring new ways to walk home, grocery shopping along the way, fittings, cast outings for coffee and dinner, etc.

There is the typical AIDA rehearsal breakdown on the Cara-Class ships for ya! Hope you enjoyed, and that you are all having a fabulous January. Much love to you all, Evy
